How to read the price of Charizard EX 012/87

The value shown ($37.62) is TCGplayer's market price: the weighted average of recent sales of a raw (ungraded) copy. It is the most used reference among Expansion Pack 20th Anniversary (JP) collectors because it relies on real transactions and is recalculated every day.

Three things make it vary for a specific copy: condition (clean centering and sharp corners command a premium, a played card sells at a discount), version (holo, reverse holo, 1st edition, language) and marketplace (the same card does not sell for the same price on eBay.com, eBay.co.uk and eBay.de). For Charizard EX, a PSA 10 or CGC 10 grade can multiply the price by 3 to 10 depending on how rare the grade is.

Before selling or buying, compare the value with completed sales on the market where you will actually trade. That is exactly what Kardz does: eBay listings and sales from 8 countries, sorted by condition and grade, with the median and the listings below market.
